Description
We explore the heart of Wales on this scenic tour, seeing some of the most picturesque coastlines and countryside mid Wales has to offer.

Enjoy heritage railway rides along some of the country's oldest lines as we journey on the Vale of Rheidol Railway and the Rheilfford Talyllyn Railway. We will also visit the Elan Valley to see historic landscapes and thriving wildlife and the working legacy of remarkable Victorian engineering.
Itinerary
Monday: We depart the Travel Centre this morning and make our way to mid Wales with a stop en route.

Tuesday: Today we board the coach and head for Tywyn, located on the Cardigan Bay coast of Wales, between Aberdyfi and Barmouth, to board the Rheilffordd Talyllyn Railway. Here we journey through the charming Fathew valley Railway in Snowdonia National Park, the world’s first preserved railway. Your comfortable carriage pulled by a historic steam engine will take you past streams and waterfalls, through a remote and beautiful valley in the Merioneth mountains, oozing Celtic mystery – discover an amazing, timeless landscape.

Wednesday: This morning we enjoy an excursion to Elan Valley. Here we enjoy a guided tour by a local ranger and view the stunning architecture on display at the dam sites. From here, we continue to Devil’s Bridge, where we join the Vale of Rheidol Railway for a scenic journey through the Welsh Valleys to Aberystwyth. We will have some free time here to explore.

Thursday: Today we explore the medieval Powis Castle and Garden. The castle has been remodelled and embellished over more than 400 years with each generation adding to the magnificent collection of paintings, sculpture, furniture and tapestries. We will also visit the market town of Welshpool.

Friday: We bid a fond farewell to the hotel staff as we head back to Hugglescote today with a stop en route, arriving back late afternoon.
