Description
Eastbourne is an elegant classic 19th century resort with a pristine promenade, 1930's Bandstand and iconic Pier. The sunny seaside resort is a gateway to Beachy Head, the Seven Sisters and the magnificent South Downs National Park.
The town centre shopping area, including the Arndale Centre, offers all the big high street names and is flat, pedestrianised and just a stone's throw from the seafront, it's the perfect place to potter.
Itinerary
Monday: We depart the Travel Centre this morning and make our way to Eastbourne with a stop en route, aiming to arrive at the hotel late afternoon.
Tuesday: Today we visit Borde Hill, one of Britain’s truly great heritage gardens and has been planted with passion by five generations of the Stephenson Clarke family. As spring starts to turn into summer, thousands of bulbs and herbaceous plants in Paradise Walk and the Italian Garden, both of which are recently redesigned by renowned garden designer Chris Beardshaw, come into their own. In the afternoon, we call visit the county town of Lewes, with its fantastic array of cafes and independent retailers, en route back to the hotel.
Wednesday: This morning we take a return journey on the Kent & East Sussex Railway from Bodiam to Tenterden. The railway is 10 ½ miles in length and is a fine example of one of England’s light railways. The journey takes around 50 minutes each way.
Thursday: Today is your free day to explore Eastbourne as you choose.
Friday: We bid a fond farewell to the hotel staff as we head back to Hugglescote today, arriving back at the Travel Centre late afternoon.
