Itinerary
City of Durham
Enjoy free time to relax and explore in Durham city, with UNESCO World Heritage sites and attractions Durham Cathedral and Durham Castle (featured in the Harry Potter films) within walking distance of our hotel. Wander the cobbled streets and feel the city's blend of old and new, with shops, bars, and restaurants to suit all.

Tyne Valley Tour
We first head inland as we make our way to Hexham with its historic Abbey. You will have the opportunity to obtain refreshments and have a look around before we follow the path of Hadrian's Wall to Vindolanda, then past the Gateshead Metro Centre into the city of Newcastle. The afternoon is free to explore, shop and sightsee. Newcastle offers plenty to see and do, including art galleries, museums, and a vast variety of shops and award-winning restaurants. In the city centre, Roman, Medieval, Jacobean Georgian and Victorian building styles sit comfortably alongside colourful Chinatown and the Eldon Square, giving the city a real cosmopolitan feel.

Raby Castle
Discover Raby Castle and its parkland setting, the jewel in the crown of County Durham and one of England's finest medieval castles. Built in the 14th-century by the powerful Nevill family, Raby's halls and chambers are filled with fabulous interiors, art collections, and dramatic architecture. After a self-guided tour of the castle, can enjoy lunch in the Yurt Café and explore the beautiful 18th-century walled garden, the 200-acre Deer Park, 18th & 19th century coach and carriage collection, and the stable gift shop. Please note: Due to the historic nature of the castle, there are steps to negotiate throughout and no lift access.
