Description
Highlights: Douglas, Port Erin, St John's, Calf of Man, Peel, Ramsey
Arriving at the Isle of Man by sea is enthralling, as the mountains of the island appear on the horizon, then beautiful Douglas Bay unfolds, with its terraced seafront buildings and hotels. Douglas is by far the largest town, once a Victorian resort, but nowadays becoming increasingly cosmopolitan, with a dual role as a holiday destination and a thriving business centre. Away from Douglas there is peaceful countryside, a spectacular coastline and small old fashioned seaside towns, many of which are highlighted on our included excursions.
**Please note it is a condition of travel with Grand UK, for all passengers to hold valid travel insurance for the duration of their tour.**

Excursions
YOUR ITINERARY
SUNDAY: From local departure points to our overnight stop.
MONDAY: A leisurely drive to join our ferry crossing to Douglas, our base for the next
four nights.
TUESDAY: An extended half day excursion to Port Erin, a resort with a beautiful bay sheltered
by Bradda Head, which retains an Edwardian flavour, before heading towards the Calf of Man.
Then on to Castletown, where medieval Castle Rushen dominates the town and harbour.
WEDNESDAY: A free day to explore Douglas at leisure, alternatively take the electric railway
to Laxey or steam railway to the south of the island.
THURSDAY: A full day circular tour of the north of the island. First to the village of St.
John's, setting of an annual open air Manx Parliament on Tynwald Hill and then on to the
fishing port of Peel, which has a ruined castle overlooking the harbour, a traditional kipper
smokery and antique shops along the alleyways. In the afternoon we make our way to
Ramsey, a harbour town and small seaside resort combined, then return to Douglas by
the Mountain Road, a thrilling section of the TT motorcycle racing circuit.
FRIDAY: Today we reluctantly leave this lovely island and cross back to the mainland, before
making our way to our overnight stop.
SATURDAY: Homeward bound
