Travelling in comfort along some of Amtrak's extensive train networks, your excellent onboard facilities will ensure you can relax and take in some wonderful scenery en-route.
Itinerary
DAY 1 LONDON • BOSTON
We begin with Titan's VIP Home Departure Service™ to London Heathrow Airport and our direct British Airways flight to Boston. On arrival we transfer to your hotel for the next three nights, the Holiday Inn Somerville.

DAY 2 BOSTON
This morning we take a comprehensive city tour to help you become acquainted with the most English of all American cities. Our highlights include the site of the famous Boston Tea Party, Back Bay, Beacon Hill, location of the gold dome of the Massachusetts State House and Charlestown where the USS Constitution, more commonly known as the Old Ironsides is moored. This afternoon we travel to the historic villages of Lexington and Concord. In 1775 the men of the patriotic militia and the British forces clashed in these now serene communities which triggered and then exploded into the American War of Independence and dramatically changed the course of history forever. We return to Boston via Cambridge located just across the river and home to Harvard University. We have time here to explore this colourful town and the Harvard Campus, which contains over 400 buildings in various architectural styles before returning to Boston.

DAY 3 BOSTON
Today you are free to explore the city for yourself. Abutting the famous green, or park, is the theatre district and reasonably priced shops and stores such as Filene’s. This evening why not dine at one of the city's many stylish restaurants?

DAY 4 BOSTON • NEW YORK
We board Amtrak's Acela Express train bound for New York this morning, which passes through the changing landscapes of Rhode Island and Connecticut before entering New York State. Towards the end of our journey, the New York skyline comes into view and we proceed dramatically into the heart of the city to the famous Pennsylvania station. On arrival we take a tour to introduce you to the main areas of the city including Fifth Avenue, Wall Street and Central Park. Later we transfer to our conveniently located hotel, the Holiday Inn Midtown, which is our base for the next two nights.

DAY 5 NEW YORK
A whole day free to make your own discoveries in this very special city. Your tour manager will be pleased to organise an optional helicopter ride around Manhattan, quite possibly the most famous skyline in the world, or visit the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island for an insight into the city's history. Alternatively, why not visit the splendid Empire State Building where you can ride to the 86th floor observatory for a spectacular view of the city.

DAY 6 NEW YORK • WASHINGTON D.C.
We say goodbye this morning to New York and take the Acela Express to Washington D.C. On arrival we take a city tour which passes by the gardens of the White House, home to every American President since George Washington and make a visit to the Capitol building, the seat of congress and the National Mall which includes the famous Lincoln and Washington memorials. Our tour includes the fantastic Union Street Station, a turn-of-the century building of imposing grandeur that is now an exclusive shopping and restaurant arcade. Later, we transfer you to the Holiday Inn Central Hotel or Hilton.

DAY 7 WASHINGTON D.C.
Washington is home to a fantastic collection of grand museums, many of which have no admission charges and today you may wish to spend some time exploring some of them. The most notable of these is the excellent Air and Space Museum where original flying machines are exhibited in a fabulous display of the history of flight from the Wright brothers onwards. You may also wish to pay a visit to the National Archives building located near the Capitol building which houses the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights. This evening you may wish to take a short taxi ride into Georgetown, residential district of the elite with its wide choice of eating places.

DAY 8 WASHINGTON D.C. • CHARLESTON
We return early this morning to Washington's Art Nouveau railway station where we catch Amtrak's Palmetto service for Charleston. Our ride takes us through historic Virginia and the pine forests of the Carolinas before its evening arrival. Our facilities aboard the Palmetto include a lounge car serving drinks and light snacks. On arrival in Charleston we transfer to the Holiday Inn Historic District.

DAY 9 CHARLESTON
Built by the privileged upper section of society at the time of hugely profitable plantations, Charleston today is a beautifully preserved architectural and historical treasure with its fantastic Antebellum mansions, elegant streets and passageways leading to lovely gardens. The best way to see Charleston's hidden charm is to explore and this morning we have arranged a guided tour to better acquaint you with this lovely city.

DAY 10 CHARLESTON • SAVANNAH
Today we visit one of the oldest public gardens in America. Set on the banks of the Ashley River, Magnolia Plantation's gardens have been continually planted since the 1680's and boasts a year round spectacle of colour. This afternoon we travel south by coach to the lovely city of Savannah. Our hotel for the next two nights is the elegant Mulberry Inn and the evening is free to sample some of the fine restaurants, which the city offers.

DAY 11 SAVANNAH
Savannah was taken by General Sherman's troops in December 1864 due to its strategic importance in the Civil War, however, by good fortune it was not torched but preserved intact as a present to President Lincoln. Thus today it retains its "Old World" feel with its leafy green squares, beautiful southern homes and great moss draped oaks and we have left you a whole day free to enjoy it.

DAY 12 SAVANNAH • ATLANTA
We leave Savannah this morning and head to Atlanta, known as the ‘Gone with the Wind’ city. On arrival we have arranged a city tour including a visit to the Martin Luther King Memorial, ending in the heart of the city at Peachtree Plaza. Our hotel for the next two nights is the Hilton.

DAY 13 ATLANTA
Atlanta, with a wealthy business community, is a sophisticated international city with superb shopping and a vibrant nightlife and today you are free to make our own explorations. You may wish to visit Underground Atlanta, over six blocks of shopping, dining and entertainment or the Georgia Aquarium, the world’s largest and home to over 100,000 animals.
