From the stunning peaks of the Rocky Mountains and the cliff-face carvings of Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse, through the continental divide to the incomparable beauty of Yellowstone Park, a wealth of sightseeing is provided. In southern Utah the parks of Canyonlands, Arches, Bryce and Zion are a wondrous sight, before experiencing the breathtaking Grand Canyon, that inimitable wonder of the world. Itinerary
DAY 1 LONDON • DENVER
We begin with Titan HiTours Home Departure Service to London Heathrow Airport and your direct scheduled British Airways flight to Denver, the mile-high capital of Colorado. On arrival our coach will transfer you to the Crowne Plaza.
DAY 2 DENVER
This morning we take a brief orientation tour of Denver, best known as one of Colorado’s pioneering gold prospecting towns. Today, Denver has become a modern and vibrant city with a superb Rocky Mountain backdrop. The remainder of the day is free to make your own explorations.
DAY 3 ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK • CHEYENNE
This morning we journey north to the mountain village of Estes Park, the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. Later in the day we continue on to Cheyenne, the capital of Wyoming, named after the Cheyenne Indian people, who inhabited southeastern Wyoming before the white man came to the area. Our hotel is the Little America or the Holiday Inn.
DAY 4 FORT LARAMIE • RAPID CITY
Today we travel to Fort Laramie. This National Historic Site played a crucial role in the transformation of the west. We leave Wyoming for South Dakota and Rapid City, the state’s second largest city and the gateway to the Black Hills. Our hotel for two nights is the Radisson.
DAY 5 MOUNT RUSHMORE • CRAZY HORSE
Our day begins at Keystone, where you can make an optional visit to the Borglum Historical Centre, which showcases the talent of Gutzon Borglum who dedicated the latter part of his life to carve the famous presidential faces. We continue on to the Mount Rushmore National Memorial in the Black Hills of Dakota. Here we see the magnificent carvings of America’s past Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln carved into the granite cliffs. Later in the day we visit the Crazy Horse Mountain Memorial that is true history in the making, where you will see the largest sculptural undertaking ever - on a scale with the Egyptian pyramids! Work began on this project in 1948, which receives no government funding and when completed it will tower 563 feet high, 641 feet long and be carved in the round.
DAY 6 DEVILS TOWER • SHERIDAN
We leave South Dakota and return to Wyoming for our visit to the nation’s first national monument - Devils Tower. It is actually the core of a volcano exposed after millions of years of erosion and is perhaps best remembered as the site of the spaceship landing in the film ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’. We continue west to Sheridan. Our hotel is the Holiday Inn.
DAY 7 YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK
Today we travel west to Cody in time for lunch. We continue to what most claim to be the world’s most famous natural preserve, America's first National Park, Yellowstone, which occupies a high plateau ringed by mountains soaring high into the skies. Our hotel is either the Yellowstone Park Inn & Suites, Stagecoach Inn or Best Western located in West Yellowstone.
DAY 8 YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK
Today we enjoy a full day tour of the wonderful wildlife and wilderness with a knowledgeable local guide. You will be introduced to the thermal features of the area including Old Faithful, the famous roaring geyser, which shoots thousands of gallons of scalding water into the air, together with the beautiful mountains and cascading waterfalls of this fascinating region. After a memorable day we return to our hotel in West Yellowstone.
DAY 9 GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK • JACKSON HOLE
We travel south through Grand Teton National Park today with a feast of sightseeing along the way. This 310,000-acre park includes the Teton Range, renowned for their tranquil majesty and which rise abruptly without foothills from the peaceful valley of Jackson Hole. We overnight at the 49er Inn.
DAY 10 SALT LAKE CITY
Today we leave Wyoming and journey southwards into Utah to Salt Lake City, headquarters of the Mormon Church. Today it is a thriving and bustling city, which has much to offer. Upon arrival into the city we take a short orientation tour before arriving at the Red Lion hotel.
DAY 11 CANYONLANDS NATIONAL PARK • ARCHES NATIONAL PARK • MOAB
A long but rewarding day as we experience the incredible beauty of Canyonlands National Park. The Green and Colorado Rivers have sliced their way through the park forming diverse sections of huge red rock pinnacles and towering spires to create a rugged and varied landscape. Later we continue to the 73,000-acre Arches National Park that encompasses over 1,700 natural stone arches. We overnight at Moab, a short distance from the park, at the Best Western Inn.
DAY 12 BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK
We continue west to Bryce for our first views of the magnificent Bryce Canyon. The canyons are technically not canyons at all but breaks in the earth creating amphitheatres as deep as 1,000 feet. Our hotel is the Best Western Ruby’s Inn.
DAY 13 ZION NATIONAL PARK
Today we journey to one of the nation’s oldest parks, Zion National Park, which is full of marvels such as the “hanging gardens” - rock walls, which in summer are draped with a variety of flowers. We return to Bryce Canyon and the Best Western.
DAY 14 GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK
Departing into Arizona we make a stop at the huge Glen Canyon dam, which took seven years to complete, and a further fifteen for the resulting 186 mile long Lake Powell to fully fill. We continue to the famous Grand Canyon, to what must be one of the most awe-inspiring sights in the world. Far below, almost a mile in fact, you will catch a glimpse of a silvery streak which is the mighty Colorado River. With photo-stops at both the east and south rims this is a truly memorable day. Our hotel is the Best Western Squire Inn located close to the entrance of the Park.
DAY 15 SEDONA • SCOTTSDALE
This morning there is the opportunity to take a fantastic helicopter or fixed wing flight over the canyon before we depart south through Navajo Indian country to beautiful Sedona with its stunning scenery of breathtaking red rock vistas. We now travel to Montezuma Castle to view this ancient five story cliff dwelling before continuing south to Scottsdale, known as “The Valley of the Sun”. Your hotel will be the Hyatt Place Hotel conveniently located for exploration of the city.
DAY 16 PHOENIX • LONDON
Today we transfer to Phoenix Airport for our direct scheduled British Airways flight to London Heathrow Airport. OR EXTEND YOUR STAY - CALL FOR DETAILS
DAY 17 LONDON
Arrival at London Heathrow Airport where our staff will greet you and transfer you to Titan transport for your journey home to your own front door.
