Lacock Abbey is located in the centre of the village and was founded in the 13th century and dissolved in 1539. Later, it became a quirky country house of various architectural styles within its own woodland grounds. It was a home for the Talbot family, including William Henry Fox Talbot 19th century, famous for his contributions towards the invention of the photographic negative.
His amazing achievements are celebrated in the Fox Talbot Museum on the ground floor and the gallery above holds special exhibitions throughout the year.
Wander through the medieval cloisters, and 16th century stable courtyard, explore the furnished rooms and discover the 18th century Gothick hall.
Lacock village and Lacock Abbey have been used as a location in TV and film productions of Wolfman, Pride and Prejudice, Cranford Chronicles, Emma and Harry Potter films.
Itinerary
Day 1 - After joining your holiday coach, enjoy a scenic drive to Littlecote House to arrive late afternoon. Breakfast & dinner included. Please note: Tea and Coffee are not included after dinner.
Days 2 & 3 or 4 (5 day tour)- At leisure with 1 included excursion & 1 optional excursion (5 day only)
Lacock Abbey, Fox Talbot Museum & Village - on arrival in Lacock village and you could be forgiven for thinking you've just entered the scene of a recent wizard battle or turned up to meet Mr Darcy for a dance at the assembly rooms. The village is famous for its picturesque streets, historic buildings and more recently as a TV and film location. . The village's most famous appearances include 'Downton Abbey', the BBC's 'Pride and Prejudice' and 'Cranford', and the films 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' and 'Wolfman'.
The Abbey, located at the heart of the village within its own woodland grounds, is a quirky country house of various architectural styles, built upon the foundations of a former nunnery. Experience the atmosphere of the medieval rooms and cloister court, giving a sense of the Abbey's monastic past. On a day out in Lacock there is plenty for you to see and do. It's the perfect place to spend a whole day. Entrance included.

Traditional Horse Boat Experience - enjoy a leisurely canal cruisie with the Kennet Horse Boat Company. Hungerford after for a look at the Antique shops.
Return Day - After an enjoyable stay at Littlecote it is time to start the homeward journey with an interesting stop on the way. Arrival back in your local towns will be mid evening.
