Description
Ullapool nestles on a small river delta on the shores of the fjord like Loch Broom. It has a very different atmosphere from the resorts further south and the visitor cannot help but sense the close links to the Outer Hebrides (for which it is the chief mainland port) and the other countries which border the North Atlantic. Here is some of the most unspoilt scenery in the world. Majestic mountains surround it on all sides and nearby are superb beaches, forests, hidden glens and waterfalls, all caressed by the gulf stream which gives it sub-tropical gardens and comparatively mild weather. It is possible to take a boat trip to the enchanting Summer Isles to see seals and porpoises
