With its fine Georgian seafront, 3 mile of golden sands, pretty harbourside and natural and themed attractions, Weymouth is a firm favourite with holiday makers. The views from the bay are spectacular, stretching across the horizon taking in the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. A short distance from Weymouth see's a very contrasting backdrop of waves crashing against the rocks along the dramatic coastline of the 'Isle' of Portland. This is an explorers Island with curiosities of history and folklore just waiting to be discovered.
Itinerary
Arrival Day: After joining the coach via one of our departure points or our executive Door2Door service, you will be introduced to your professional driver and whisked away in comfort to wonderful Weymouth. We aim to arrive between 3-4pm so that you can relax before your evening meal and settle down for your first night.
Full Day Excursion: After breakfast we journey north, delighting in the breathtaking scenery of Dorset's area of outstanding natural beauty. This fine collection of landscapes offer unique characteristics including high chalk escarpments, ridge top, uninterrupted panoramic views and numerous individual landmarks such as hilltop earthworks, monuments and tree clumps providing a range of habitats and associated species. Our journey takes us to Sherborne, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful towns in England. With its abundance of medieval buildings, superb Abbey, picturesque Almshouse and quaint high street, Sherborne has so much to offer visitors.
Free Day in Resort: Free time to explore and enjoy your holiday resort, Weymouth. If you are feeling adventurous why not visit Portland Bill lighthouse and visitor centre or board the land train and relax and enjoy the panoramic ride along Weymouth esplanade to Lodmoor, the home of Weymouth Sealife Park and Lodmoor Country Park.
Full Day Excursion: Today we journey inland to Dorchester the historic county town of Dorset. Dorchester is a delightful town lying on the banks of the River Frome, in the Frome Valley, just south of the Dorset Downs. Dorchester was an important town in Roman and Saxon times however, its architecture has a strong Georgian influence due to much of the town being destroyed by fire in the 17th & 18th centuries, providing a wealth of history for visitors. Today will see the 19th century market place come alive with stalls selling a variety of fine food and drink and an array of items from clothes to soft furnishings. After lunch we travel to West Bay, the stunning setting of ITV's popular series 'Broadchurch'. With the stunning golden glow of the majestic sandstone cliffs and the shimmering radiance of Golden Cap, it's easy to see how earned it's nickname of the golden gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast.
Departure Day: Make the most of the wonderful food that is on offer for breakfast this morning. After a fabulous holiday, it's time to bid farewell to your hosts and Weymouth for your journey home, taking wonderful memories with you
