Itinerary
DAYS 1-2 Departure and travel to Chamonix via Beaune: A morning departure to Dover and our ferry crossing to Calais. We continue through France to our overnight hotel. Next morning after breakfast we continue our journey to Chamonix visiting en route Beaune, the wine capital of the Burgundy region of France.
DAYS 3-5 At leisure in Chamonix with two included excursions. The charming town of Chamonix with a friendly atmosphere is surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery and presided over by the ever white Mont Blanc. During your free time why not take an optional cable car up to the Aiguille du Midi or visit the living Mer de Glace glacier by historic railway (not included) for an amazing view of the valley.
Lake Geneva: After breakfast we head to Lake Geneva, firstly visiting the Swiss resort of Vevey, home of Charlie Chaplin. Wander around the picturesque town, which is full of historical buildings and character.We will then stop at the beautiful town of Montreux, located on the shores of Lake Geneva. Stroll along the flower bordered lake promenade, where you can take an optional boat trip across the lake to the French lakeside resort of Evian, where you can explore one of the oldest French spa resorts, famous nowadays for its mineral water.We rejoin our coach to return via Geneva back to the hotel.
Lake Annecy with optional* lake cruise: The charming town of Annecy is set on the banks of the purest lake in Europe. Snowy mountains surround the lake, which is a perfect setting if you want to join our optional* boat trip. After this, spend time at leisure to discover the town’s ‘Little Venice’ canal quarter, where small streams and canals cross the town. Experience some culture and take a visit to the 12th Century Palais de l’Isle and the turreted Chateáu d’Annecy (not included) or amble through the narrow streets and enjoy some retail therapy in the various shops.Why not try some seafood for lunch or a local specialty such as tartiflette (layers of potato, cheese, bacon & cream) in one of the canal side restaurants? We return to the hotel late afternoon.
DAY 6 & LAST DAY Travel to overnight hotel and travel home: Departing after breakfast we start our return journey stopping en route at our overnight hotel. Next morning we continue to Calais for our ferry crossing to Dover, arriving home during the evening.
