Relive one of the most important times in our recent history when the ‘bouncing bombs’ changed the course of World War 2.

Itinerary

DAY 1 Departure: A morning departure, stopping for lunch and refreshments en route to our hotel.

DAYS 2-3: At leisure with two included excursions. RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre RAF Conningsby: Here you are provided with a unique opportunity to see the Flight’s historic aircraft at close quarters and observe BBMF technicians working to maintain them in airworthy condition. You will have the possibility to see up close and personal such legends of the air as the Lancaster, the Spitfire and the Hurricane amongst many others. Your tour will be led by one of the very enthusiastic and knowledgeable local guides. RAF Conningsby is also a working base with many modern day war planes on view.

Dambusters talk and lunch: We will journey to nearby Woodhall Spa where we will be given a very informative presentation on the Dambusters. After lunch you will have the opportunity to stroll around this famous Lincolnshire Spa town.

Burghley House and Gardens: One of the most famous country houses in England and known universally as the finest example of such houses of the first Elizabethan age. Built and designed by William Cecil in 1555, the house is set in 2000 acres of formal gardens and woodland designed by Capability Brown. This is truly a visit not to be missed.

LAST DAY Travel Home: We depart for home, stopping en route for refreshments, arriving home during the evening.

Venue Information

Ramada, Grantham

This 4* Ramada Hotel is situated on the edge of the delightful 12th century market town of Grantham. There are 89 bedrooms with TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The hotel is on 2 floors but has no lift; ground floor rooms are available on request. There is a courtyard bar with lounge and terrace, a heated indoor pool and gym. Porterage and a welcome drink are conveniently included.
