Join us as we head to Bournemouth for our Autumn Colours of the New Forest Tour. Nestled on Dorset’s picturesque coast, there is much to do in the resort of Bournemouth with museums, galleries, amusement arcades and an oceanarium to name but a few along with seven miles of sandy beach for you to enjoy from a conveniently positioned hotel on the seafront in the prestigious East Cliff Area. This delightful tour to the south coast takes us on a scenic journey into the New Forest National Park to witness the magical Autumn colours as nature waves goodbye to summer with visits to its historic capital Lyndhurst, and the port town of Lymington in the south of the New Forest. Combined with visits to the Dorset towns of Dorchester and Weymouth this makes for a great tour to keep those Winter Blues at bay.
Itinerary
Monday
Depart Leyland at 9am for our journey to Bournemouth with a suitable lunch stop en-route, arrive to a warm, friendly welcome, enjoy a welcome tea/coffee while your luggage is taken care of.
Tuesday
Following breakfast, you have a free day to explore Bournemouth at leisure. Rated as England's most popular tourist resort you can enjoy 7 miles of beaches, Victorian architecture, and the Bournemouth Pier. Perhaps visit the 2-mile-long Bournemouth Gardens or enjoy lunch on the seafront.
Wednesday
Today's excursion takes us firstly to Dorchester, the county town of Dorset. The town is the fictional 'Casterbridge' of Thomas Hardy novels. Today is market day where traders showcase their local produce, enjoy the bustling atmosphere while you browse the stalls and explore the town. Continue our journey along the coast through Abbotsbury home to the swannery to Weymouth, a town of Georgian grandeur with beautiful golden beaches and a pretty harbour.
Thursday
We begin our day with a scenic drive through the beautiful New Forest National Park taking in the beauty of the Autumn colours as we head for ancient Lyndhurst, known as the capital of the New Forest since the time of William the Conqueror, the town offers the visitor a wide range of shops and tea rooms, olde worlde pubs and cafes. continue our journey to the south of the New Forest and the port town of Lymington with free time to explore, allowing time for lunch before we head back to Bournemouth for free time and to relax before our homeward journey tomorrow.
Friday
Check out of our hotel following breakfast for our return journey home with a suitable lunch stop en-route.
