Clacton-on-Sea, the largest town on the Essex Sunshine Coast, is a traditional seaside town with a modern twist making it a bustling but affordable seaside resort. It boasts an array of entertainment facilities including a pleasure pier, arcades, the Princes and the Westcliff Theatres, a golf course, seafront walks, water sports and an airfield offering pleasure flights. The main shopping area contains many of the more familiar national chains, independent stores as well as a variety of eateries to tantalise your taste buds.
Itinerary
Arrival Day: After joining the coach via one of our departure points or our executive Door2Door service, you will be introduced to your professional driver and whisked away in comfort to charming Clacton on Sea. We aim to arrive between 3-4pm so that you can relax before your evening meal and settle down for your first night.
Free Day in Resort: Free time to explore and familiarise yourself with your holiday resort, Clacton on Sea. Take a stroll down the lively pier or around the beautiful gardens. Alternatively, head to the nearby Clacton Factory Outlet where you can save up to 60% on high street brands.
Full Day Excursion: After breakfast we board the coach for a full day excursion to Bury St Edmunds, a Suffolk market town and truly unique historic gem. Bury boasts a rich heritage and its mix of medieval architecture, beautiful Georgian squares, striking Cathedral, serene Abbey Gardens and award winning shopping centre will keep you fascinated for hours on end. Today see's the towns Buttermarket and Cornhill come alive with the vibrant market. Bury's market is one of the most successful traditional street markets in the country and has one of the longest and colourful histories, dating back to before the days of William the Conquerer.
Full Day Excursion: Today we journey first to Colchester, the oldest recorded town in Britain dating back to AD77. Colchester is home to a wealth of history and heritage as well as being a modern, thriving town with many visitor attractions. Marvel at the Roman Temple, Norman Castle and the stunning mix of Victorian and Medieval architecture. There are many local museums including the natural history museum and the pretty narrow streets and bustling lanes are teeming with delightful shops and places to eat. Early afternoon we head back to the coast, to Harwich. This popular port is a must see for history lovers! It is the place where the Pilgrim Fathers built the Mayflower and where its captain, Christopher Jones, hailed from. Visit the yard where the Mayflower Project is underway with the building of a replica of the famous ship that sailed to America and see the work in progress.
